The SGP UltraThin is a hardshell snap on style designed case for the iPhone 3GS. The UltraThin has a leather texture but it is fully made out of polycarbonate, very slim profile that does not add any bulk and give you minimal protection. The UltraThin only protects the back of the iPhone leaving the chrome bezel unprotected, also on the back there is a cut out to show the Apple logo and a screen protector to cover it is also provided. The leather texture gives you a nice grip, this case is great for people who take care of their phone and do not drop it. The UltraThin is just like many other snap on cases out there but SGP offers a huge verity of colors and textures. It’s easy to snap on the iPhone and comes with a Steinheil anti-fingerprint screen protectors. Price $19.99.
Have you ever wanted to replace your microfibers and iKlears for something else? CyberClean has came up with a sticky solution to clean those hard to reach places without any sprays, CyberClean will also disinfect the area you clean such as keyboards and other gadgets. But does it really work as advertised? Well not really, it does clean dust on a first try but i found it hard to collect some junk and dirt that has collected over months off of keyboards and other devices. You will find yourself trying to push the CuberClean over the surface a few times until it collects any dirt. It will clean or pick up stains and built up dirt off of your devices. The CyberClean leaves a lemony smell on the cleaned surface you applied it on, the texture of it is not that sticky but is very fun to play with. You can reuse it up to about 70 times or until it changes it’s color to a darker green, to use it you just press down on it to the surface and lift. Then fold it into itself and reuse it again, when finished put it into its case and close it so it will not dry up. Prices from $5.99 to $9.99.
Ableplanet’s True Fidelity noise canceling headphones have one major flaw and that is they do not actually cancel any outside noise, not one bit however their Linx audio technology does and requires one 3xA battery that is included to power on the headphones. So what does this Linx thing do? It basically gives more power to the audio and you get better and stronger sound, not something i see very special just because the noise cancellation feature does not even work whether it has something to do with the power or not. So how do the True Fidelity sound? Good but not good enough, the bass sounds a little muddy and undetailed so does the overall spectrum, the sound is very full almost hard to distinguish the highs and lows so you do not get any crispy clear highs.
I found a big issue with sound leakage, these will leak a lot of sound just like a speaker so using the True Fidelity in public or quiet places can be an issue. However they are very light and comfortable and the headband is nice and fluffy. The True Fidelity headphones have a matte soft touch finish, and have an in-line volume control switch. In the box you can a battery, hardshell carry case, airplane adapter, home stereo adapter and a detachable/replaceable one sided 3.5mm audio cable (non proprietary). I would not recommend these for portable carry. If your looking to get one of Ableplanet’s headphones i would strongly recommend going for their higher models. Also available at Amazon. Price $129.99.
The cool and unique looking little mouse by Jelfin is gel covered all around and feels very nice, it’s wired with a very tiny USB plug and it has a 1,000Dpi sensor which not bad for scrolling around. And that is what’s it’s good for, scrolling around the web not for long periods of time or professional work and duties of any kind. No drivers required just plug and play, compatible with both Mac and PC, and come inside a nice little tin can that can be used to store this little gel covered mouse. It’s the size of a small notebook mouse and somewhat comfortable but can take some time getting used to holding a ball like style of mouse, the gel really helps otherwise it would be horrible to use. The Jelfin mouse is really something I would expect Thinkgeek.com to carry because it really is more of a nice gift gadget and not a very useful everyday mouse. The jelfin mouse comes in 5 different arrays of colors and would probably be a good choice for a little kid to use because it will fit the hand size perfectly. Available at Amazon, Price $34.95.
The new Neo Hybrid case for the iPhone 3G/S is a hybrid mix of silicone and hard plastic, the part that protects the back of the iPhone is soft grippy silicone while the part the protects and covers the chrome entirely is made out of hard plastic. Having two parts to this case gives an overall nice design with added color options for the chrome plastic cover. It is not an easy job to install the Neo Hybrid on the iPhone because of the silicone and hard plastic but once you get the hang of it it’s not that bad.
The Neo Hybrid offers a lot of protection all around with extra coverage for the volume and power/sleep buttons while not taking any responsiveness away. You also get a good “lay on the table design” with having the plastic frame covering your chrome bezel, so you won’t have problems laying your iPhone flat on it’s screen. SGP also has different single plastic colored frame that you can purchase separately, with this case you get 2 Steinheil screen protectors, one anti-fingerprint film, one clear crystal film and a microfiber cloth. Available in 5 colors, price $26.99.
The SR60i by Grado headphones are most known for their retro or old school look but also for their extreme high sound quality, nothing for this price sound any better. The SR60i have a very rich and natural sound with great detailed bass, clear highs and full soundstage . The SR60i are open air meaning they do not isolate any outside noise, they are very comfortable with the sponge like ear pads that are also replaceable but will last you a very long time. The hand band is not made out of leather and the adjustable hight is done by sliding the cups up and down without any clicks like many other headphones. The build quality is very solid, the cups are made out of plastic but do not feel “cheap”. The cable is nice and thick for durability and comes with a screw-on 6.3mm adapter. The SR60i are one of the best selling models from Grado and are made in the U.S.A. They are truly audiophile grade headphones, but you might want to stay at home while using them if you mind the retro design style. Price $79.99. Can be found for less.
GelaSkins have been around for a while now and they feature very talented artist designs on their skins. GelaSkins are protective yet well designed skins for the iPhone 3G/S that feature many artist designs on their 3M non-residue sticky skins, the skins are compatible with both iPhone 3G/S and the original iPhone. They stick to the back of your iPhone but also go right up to the chrome sides, they are very easy to instal just make sure you clean your device before and take your time to align the camera hole with the iPhone’s camera. I had no bubbles because GelaSkins are very durable and if you mess up you can peel it off and reapply once again with ease, they are also reusable. The print quality is very impressive and has a scratch and UV protection layer.
So why should you get a GelaSkin? Well if you do not like having cases on your iPhone but still want to have scratch protection with no added bulk while changing the look of your iPhone then i think GelaSkins are the way to go. The skins can be used with some cases like silicone one but not slider style case, Clip on style cases are also compatible. GelaSkins offers you to download free matching wallpaper for your iPhone so you can complete your front screen with the back side, you can download GelaSkins free wallpaper app in the app store. GelaSkins are also available for your Mac or other gadgets you might have. There are many designs to choose from so be unique and have fun! Price $14.95.
The SportShell by Marware is a unique case for the iPhone 3GS because it features an interchangeable back piece and what the means is it comes with a clear clip that also acts as a stand and could rotate 360º that you can insert into the case by sliding out a piece of the cases back. And you can now use the SportShell for viewing movies or just have it as a stand or clip it to your clothes, the problem i had was that the clear clip got stuck in the open position and was very hard to close later on, also once you have the clear clip attached to the case the two latches where the case closes do not fit flush in one side. The SportShell is similar to the Slider cases by Incase but has two latches on each side for the case to close, and it’s a little hard to open those two latches apart and slider your iPhone out. This case has a very nice grippy texture to it just like the MicroShell, and does not attract any fingerprints, the case covers the chrome bezel and adds a lot of protection to your iPhone. It does not have any rubber guard rails inside, but i do not see this case scratching your iPhone. Marware offers this case with an Armband and it’s a great case for those who exercise that is called the SportShell Convertible. The SportShell comes in matte black only and inside the box you get a screen shield, clear stand clip, back cover and a cleaning cloth. My rating would have been higher but the clip problem and the two latches on the sides are a con for me. Price is 34.99.
